While our neighbors to the south have been dealing with fire ants for years, these pests are a relatively new problem for Tennesseans.
Fire ants are a major concern because their mounds look relatively harmless to those who are unfamiliar with the mounds, and because large swarms of ants leave the mound if disturbed. These swarms scour the immediate area looking for the intruder, and once found viciously attack the intruder or anyone nearby.
Fire ant bites produce painful welps and may even result in death especially for small children.
If you find fire ants in your yard:
-Never leave children unattended near fire ant mounds.
-Contact a reputable pest control company immediately!
